Story:

It was breeding season at Leighton Moss RSPB nature reserve, an ideal time and a great opportunity to photograph a bittern if you're lucky. This elusive bird is always a tricky one to photograph; they can be heard for miles as they are Britain's loudest bird, but photographing one sometimes proves quite difficult. However, on this particular day, I was fortunate enough to be sitting in a hide when this bittern came out of the reeds and stood on the edge before taking flight.
