Story
On a late afternoon in winter, I spent the day on the Yorkshire Coast, at Bempton Cliffs, photographing what sea birds were around but also looking for the short-eared Owls and barn owls. In the fading light, a barn owl appeared from the ghost bushes and started to quarter a field. I was totally alone and the violent owl seemed not to notice me, and flew past before stopping in mid-flight and hovering before diving in for an evening meal.
It was a truly fantastic few minutes I had with a one-to-one encounter with this beautiful barn owl, during which I not only managed to photograph but also video in slow motion. This image also depicts the owl just before diving into the long grass.
